THROTTLE EXTENSION FOR JABIRU 2200 AND 3300 ENGINES USING A 40mm BING CARBURETOR Note: To facilitate the use of this kit, a third hole will be needed in the cable retention bracket that is mounted to the carburetor. If the engine is installed or the dirt covers have been removed from the carburetor, it is recommended that the cable retention bracket be removed from the carburetor to avoid getting metal chips or filings where they could cause problems. 1) To locate the third hole needed on the cable retention bracket, measure up from the center of the upper factory made retention hole, (closest to the bend in the bracket) 7/8" to 15/16". Now measure in from the edge of the bracket 5/16" to locate the center of the hole. It should be roughly in line with the other two holes. Drill a 5/16" DIA hole in this location. The aluminum material this bracket is made from is fairly soft so drilling in steps or using a unibit is recommended. Creating a slot from the edge of the bracket to the hole similar to the other two holes is optional. It may make the installation of the cable easier. Reinstall the cable retention bracket if you opted to remove it. 2) After unpacking the linkage extension kit, remove cotter pin, castellated nut, washers and screw. 3) Place the thick washer on the screw and insert this screw through the back of the hole in the throttle lever on the carburetor such that the threaded portion of the screw is toward you. 4) Slide the stepped bushing over the screw with the small end toward the carburetor lever. Insert the small end of the bushing into the hole on the lever. 4) Install the throttle lever extension such that the "cup" portion of the extension goes into the recessed area of the throttle lever on the carburetor. 5) Place the thin washer on screw and tread castellated nut on screw using wrenches to make it snug. Install cotter pin. 6) After determining the location on the firewall for the throttle cable to come thru and making the hole, Install and secure the throttle cable assembly provided by Jabiru using the third hole you made in the retention bracket. (see step 1) 7) Jabiru provides a cable attachment fitting and flat washer that will fit the 1/4" hole at the top of the throttle extension. Install the fitting from the front and slide the flat washer on from the back before installing the cable. 8) Install the free end of the cable through the hole in the fitting. If properly installed, the cable will be on the back side of the lever to best align with the cable retention bracket. With the throttle spring holding the throttle in the wide open position, pull the free end of the cable until the throttle knob in the cockpit is in full throttle position. Snug the set screws that hold the throttle cable. Now pull the throttle knob to the idle position and check to be sure that the throttle lever is against the idle stop.
